According to Global Times, the AI doctors developed at Agent Hospital have achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 93.06% on the MedQA dataset (U.S. Medical Licensing Examination questions) covering major respiratory diseases.
These smart tools can simulate the entire process of diagnosing and treating patients, from consultation and examination to diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
According to the group, AI doctors can treat 10,000 patients in just a few days – a task that would take humans at least two years to complete.
The university research team indicates that the AI hospital can simulate and predict various medical scenarios, including the emergence, spread, and prevention of infectious diseases in an area.
TRANSFORMING PATIENT CARE
In the simulation environment of Agent Hospital, there are two main entities: patients and medical experts. GPT-3.5 creates the roles of these entities, allowing for infinite expansion.
Agent Hospital needs a team of medical experts with intelligent bots to operate the hospital, including several clinics and consultations.
The researchers established a structure that includes 14 medical staff responsible for diagnosing diseases and planning detailed treatments, and 4 nurses dedicated to daily support tasks.
Research and development
Liu Yang, head of the research team at Agent Hospital of Tsinghua University, told Global Times that the AI hospital will revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This transition promises significant benefits for both healthcare providers and the public.
Mr. Yang said that after about six months of in-depth research and development, the AI hospital is about to be completed for practical deployment. The goal of Agent Hospital is to focus on specific application directions and become operational in the second half of 2024.
