Seminar on Digital Transformation in the Judicial Sector

On October 7, 2024, the Department of Information Technology held a seminar titled “Application of AI for Digital Transformation in the Judicial Sector” at the Ministry of Justice headquarters. The Director of the Department of Information Technology led the event.

The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

In his opening speech, the Director emphasized the crucial role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He noted that AI is a core issue and a major force transforming the global economy by making transactions seamless through the Internet. AI has brought about significant breakthroughs, enhancing productivity and optimizing processes in various industries. In Vietnam, AI has been applied for many years, but the emergence of ChatGPT in late 2022 marked a turning point, with 100 million registered users in just two months.

Sharing Experiences in Applying AI to Practice

The seminar provided an opportunity for participants to share their practical experiences in developing and applying AI technology within the operations of the Ministry and the judicial sector. The Director expressed hope that the attendees would gain a deeper understanding of AI’s role in digital transformation and generate creative ideas to enhance daily tasks and fully utilize AI’s capabilities in their work.

AI Applications in Administrative Support

During the discussions, a representative from the National Digital Technology Center, Ministry of Information and Communications, introduced an AI virtual assistant designed to support civil servants and public officials in the digital transformation process. AI virtual assistants have the potential to revolutionize the knowledge system and working methods of public officials, making their workflows more intelligent. The representative shared specific experiences in applying AI, focusing on solving smaller, targeted problems and combining expert knowledge with AI language models to enhance efficiency.

Implementing AI in the Judicial Sector

A representative from Viettel discussed their experience deploying AI for various ministries and sectors. They outlined a five-step process: data surveying, data loading, integrating the virtual assistant into existing applications, testing and adjustments, and official deployment. Additionally, they suggested establishing a centralized data repository and automating the operational processes of the Ministry of Justice.

AI in Legal Document Review

A representative from CMC Technology Research Institute shared insights on using AI to review and assess legal documents. AI can automatically detect conflicts in laws and propose amendments, thus improving the efficiency of document review and reducing the workload for officials.

Conclusion and AI Implementation Strategy

In conclusion, the Director emphasized that applying AI in digital transformation is a complex process requiring strong commitment and determination from the implementing units. He also noted that no AI solution is perfect, and units must take a step-by-step approach, prepare sufficient data, and clearly define the scope of their work to achieve concrete results and high efficiency.
